Asian Paraxylene Prices Gain on Sanction-Led Oil Boost / PX unlikely face impact of US sanctions / China PX imports decline MOM in Jan, Feb 2025

The price of Asian Paraxylene rose slightly on the backs of higher oil prices due to US sanctions. However, the sanctions are not expected to have a direct impact on the PX Market. Asian paraxylene was up $1.84/mt on a day-over-day basis at $841.17/mt, CFR Taiwan/China, March 21. On March 20, the US sanctioned a Chinese independent refinery owned and operated by Shandong ShouguangLuqing Petrochemical for buying millions of barrels Iranian crude. Sources said that the sanctions will not have an immediate impact on PX spot prices. Shipbroker in Singapore said that the impact on oil could be more severe.
