said there was a shortage of offers and bids on the physical market. However,
the Market on Close assessment process was lively on December 16. Three
trades were reported. There were offers and bids for February and March
cargoes. First, a Hengli February cargo offer was taken by Total at
$944/mt. Second, a February bid by EMCAP was taken by Mercuria for $950/mt. The
last trade was a GS Caltex February trade, which Total sold for
$947/mt. After the three February trades, Mercuria offered March
cargo. Flat price offers and trades between March and February cargoes
resulted in a widerning of the backwardation, which was set at plus $1/mt
