Asian Paraxylene: Prices rise amid strong crude / Little change in demand / Some PTA terms allocations have been cut

The price of Asian paraxylene has been rising day by day in line with crude oil prices, although little has changed regarding demand. Asian paraxylene is up $6/mt a day, to $847.33/mt at CFR Taiwan/China on March 26. The PX spot price was up on a daily basis, as a result of higher oil prices. Crude oil futures rose in Asian trading on the 26th of March, buoyed up by the shrinking US crude stockpiles. Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine peace deal progress capped the gains, easing the supply risks. After separate talks in Riyadh with Russia and Ukraine, the US has reached agreements with both countries to limit attacks on energy infrastructure and ensure safe navigation across the Black Sea.
