paraxylene prices fell on Feb. 3, due to weak downstream demand for pure
terephthalic acids. Asian PX fell $10/mt to $1,043/mt CFR Taiwan/China
February 3. Sources said that although PX prices rose strongly through
January, demand for PTA/polyester has yet to catch up. A trader in North
Asia stated that PTA production plant operation rates have not increased since
the Lunar New Year holidays. Sources said that the PX Taiwan/China CFR
marker fell by $10/mt compared to the Asian close February 3. However,
sentiment for PX demand is still strong for the moment. China's trader
said that workers could return to work next weeks and that operation rates
