Prices of Asian paraxylene fell on April 2, as the market awaited the outcome of the US tariff plans. Asian paraxylene prices fell $5/mt per day on April 2, to $849.33/mt at CFR Taiwan/China. Sources said that the price of crude oil also dropped, reflecting a slightly weaker sentiment in the market. The Asian PX market was characterized by a lack of activity, although traders noted that several turnarounds on the supply side helped to support prices. Demand-side concerns remain, however, as several market participants continue to search for clues in advance of US President Donald Trump’s universal tariff plans at 'Liberation Day.'
