Asian Paraxylene: Falls $3/mt amid weaker backwardation■ A smaller appetite for September results in a narrower
structure■ Taiwan's CAPCO closes the PTA Line for a Few DaysAsian paraxylene was down $3/mt in value on
the day, at $1,080.33/mt CFR Taiwan/China on Aug. 3, and at $1.060.33/mt FBO
Korea on Aug. 3. This was due to a weaker backwardation between September and
October. Sources
indicated that September arrivals were less popular after rounds of stocking,
and the main lay cans moved to H1 October and H2 October. This resulted in
lower liquidity for September clay containers. The floating September bids were lower than the October
delivery bids. However, October delivery bids were best at plus $35/mt compared
