- The paper time spread is further- The FOB Korea marker drops to
a 5-month low

As slow demand and falling oil prices
continued to weigh, there was a lackluster trade momentum in the Asian market
for benzene. FOB Korea benzene physical markers
stood at $1,039-1,070/mt on July 14 - an $11.34-16.50/mt decrease from the level
last seen on February 17. The lowest September FOB Korea offers
were heard at $1.035-2.500/mt just before the end. However, an H2 August cargo
was traded at $1.038-2.500/mt. The August/September paper spread was
traded one time during the day at $17-22/mt. Sources
estimate that the time spreads between October and January paper contracts are
decreasing, but buying interest remained low. The region's
demand remained weak, with downstream buyers having slow consumer consumption
and low optimism about its recovery.
