The European methanol spot
price fell on September 1st in a slow spot marketplace. The FOB Rotterdam spot
price for methanol was Eur360/mt on September 1, down Eur1/mt since Aug. 31. Sources claim that at least 1,000 mt of heard were traded
spot on September delivery day at Eur360/mt. The low water level in the Rhine river impacted barge
loading and product lifting. This resulted in less product loading per barge
and delayed barge loading. The last
estimate of the water level at Kaub, Germany's choke point, was 82 cm on Sept.
