The price of Chinese nylon-6 fell further during the week ending April 23 due to a combination of sluggish trade tensions and high inventory levels. As trade uncertainty slowed buying and demand, market participants struggled with high inventory pressure. A producer stated that the inventories of PA6 and downstream thread were at historic highs, while adding that tariffs dampened clothing exports. Some participants were relieved by the news of a possible de-escalation of the China-US Trade dispute, but they remained cautious. Local distributors said that some players held onto their PA-6 chips in case of a recovery. FOB China nylon-6 prices for bright and half-dull grades were $1,294/mt, down $6/mt from the previous day and $50/mt over the past week.
