In the week ending June 14, the Asian
phenol market was stronger, fueled by bullish upstream propylene and benzene
markets. There were also steady outflows from long-haul arbitrage shipments to
Europe. Additional
support was provided by China's recovery in demand. The week-long strike by the Cargo Truckers Solidarity union
in South Korea was expected to lead to run rate reductions by many producers
and a pile-up of inventories. A trader in
Seoul stated that "a number of companies have stopped exports because of
the logistics disruption." He also said: "If this situation
