- No new bids or trades on day- Most exports to South Korea and Europe

US spot methanol prices softened on Nov.
15, due to lower offers in the market. Spot November and Dec methanol dropped 1 cent each at
96c/gal FOB USAG. Participants in the
market agreed that spot liquidity was still low amid a bearish outlook and that
bidding behavior was non-existent. Although
buying sentiment is low, one source claimed that US producers have not cut
production levels and are exporting to South Korea, Europe, and Japan. According to the source, traders and distributors can't
export because there is currently no arbitrage. A source also stated that production levels are not being
decreased because "producers still need to fulfill all their contract
sales."
