Asian paraxylene ended the week Nov. 4 on
an optimistic note. It rose $36.42/mt and $61.08/mt over the same time period,
to $1,022.33/mt CFR UNV1/China and $1.002.33/mt FOB Korea, respectively.
However, the spread between paraxylene (and isomer-MX) on the CFR basis
increased marginally to plus $30.33/mt from $23.42/mt. However, it remained
impossible for integrated production. Asian isomer MX was buoyant due to gasoline blending
demand, and traders were again heard working on the Asia/US arbitrage. A few sources claim that the Asian aromatics market may be
supported by the reopened arbitrage for gasoline-blending stocks . Sources say that the strength in paraxylene was also driven
by rallies in the energy complex and a surge in China's PTA market due to
