Spot prices for European virgin
polyethylene Terephthalate rose in the week ending June 15, due to strong
demand and rising feedstock costs. According
to sources, the demand for virgin PET products is rising due to warmer weather
in Southern Europe. However, Northwest European demand should catch up. The supply of PET is sufficient in the meantime. Traders stated that "availability" is possible,
with domestic producers maintaining good production levels. The rising upstream feedstock prices of paraxylene, an
upstream product, are putting pressure on producers. This has been a positive
trend over the past few weeks due to gains in gasoline and MX. Producers will need to reduce or stop production if virgin
