With
a slight uptick in crude oil prices on May 12, the Northwest European naphtha
markets were stronger in absolute terms. Sources said that
liquidity in the spot market fell further because market participants remained
loyal to their contracts in Northwest Europe and did not see the need to enter
it. According to the International Energy
Agency's monthly report, refinery news showed that global refinery throughput
was down in April despite rising margins. This is mainly due to lower runs in
China. Asia saw mixed sentiment in the
naphtha market with end-users presenting spot tenders for the week. However,
there was an increase in the Middle East supply which halted recovery. Sources said
that 223,000 mt fresh June-loading tender cargoes were heard...
