The Asian naphtha spot market saw recent
strength, pushing the FOB Arab Gulf cash differential higher by 25% to an
11-month high. This was due to supply-side concerns. The half-month roll February 16 was the start of
trading for April's first-half delivery to north Asia. According to
market sources, East of Suez refiners-origin naphtha goods were in high demand
because European supply was expected to be tighter after February 5's price cap
on Russian-origin cargoes. This would keep more Mediterranean naphtha
commodities in the West of Suez. The market participants were cautious
and awaiting a more clear outlook from Russia in light of the price cap. As brokers
pegged the March-April Mean Japanese naphtha swap spread at $12.75/mt in
