Naphtha stocks in Northwest Europe saw a
significant weekly drop of 13.2%, reversing the increase registered the
previous week, reflecting higher demand amid reduced supply conditions due to
the EU sanctions on Russian oil distillates. Storage in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp
trading hub fell over the week to Feb. 16 from 275,000 mt to 244,000 mt,
according to Insights Global data. Demand for naphtha was being sustained by a
stronger gasoline market and a recovery in petrochemical demand. Nevertheless, the
discount of naphtha to gasoline continued to shrink, which could eventually
destroy demand, sources have said. In blending, the front-month CIF NWE naphtha
swap discount to the equivalent gasoline swap was assessed at $73.25/mt Feb.
