MX-naphtha spread widens further to $223.88/mt China MX inventory jumps 59%



Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene rose by $23-26/mt to $1,120-1,140/mt FOB
Korea, $16-20/mt to $1,125-1,135/mt CFR Taiwan, and dropped $4-5/mt to $1,075-1,095/mt
CFR China, April 22. Due to recent shortages in the
region, May cargoes supply appeared limited. According to a spokesperson for Taiwan's CPC, the CPC
declared force majeure on the April loading of isomer mixed xylenes/toluene
cargoes. According to industry sources,
the force majeure was triggered by the closure of No. 3, No. 7, and No. 3,
earlier announced due to coronavirus positive cases, letters were sent to
customers between April 13-and 14. A source
close to the company stated that mixed xylenes buyers had arranged vessels for
loading cargo, but that [CPC] couldn't deliver cargo in April... toluene or MX
would be delayed...
