On June 2, the Asian caprolactam market
experienced rising costs and low demand, which led to a standoff between
sellers and buyers. Asian
caprolactam was up $10-15/mt during the week to $2,180-2,210/mt CFR Far East
Asia June 2 and $2,210-2,250/mt CFR Southeast Asia June 2. Asian producers continued to feel the pressure from strong
feedstock benzene prices. They spoke out about their difficulty passing on increasing
costs to end-users due to low restocking interests. China is making progress towards ending the Shanghai
lockdown, but recovery is slow. . . One market
participant said that it was difficult for downstream companies to keep up with
the benzene trend. Another source claimed
