The European spot methyl tertiary ether
prices fell on July 14 despite lower energy complex buying interest. European MTBE flat prices were down $32-37/mt on
July 13, at $1,324-1,360/mt FOB ARA. This is lower than the outstanding offer
during Commodity Insights' Market on Close assessment process. MTBE's
premium was still higher than the EBOB FOBAR M1 swap at $321.50-350.50/mt. The spread
between front-month gasoline and front-month naphtha fell by $12.25-17.01/mt
over the previous day to $277.75-300.50/mt. This is below the July-to-date
average of $333.55-360.50/mt. Due to limited barge demand and
recessionary worries, the NWE gasoline market was affected by bearish sentiment. The NWE
naphtha markets have partially recovered, mainly due to arbitrage opportunities
