On June 30, spot European methyl Tertiary
Butyl Eth flat prices dropped further due to selling interest and weaker
upstream energy. European
MTBE was valued at $1.782-2.250/mt FOB ARA. This was lower than the $98-102/mt
on June 30, due to a selling appetite during the Market on Close. Two offers
were made for 1,000 mt at $1.783-2.10/mt, and $1.793-3.1/mt, respectively. The MTBE premium was lower than the Eurobob swap on June 30,
at $560.75-575.25/mt, down $27-32/mt, while front-month--July gasoline fell to
$1,222-1,240/mt FOB ARA. Sources noted
that MTBE market sentiment was weaker due to a narrower gasoline-naphtha spread. From the previous day, the spread between front-month
gasoline and front-month naphtha decreased by $66.50-70.25/mt to $420.50-435.75/mt
