Spot European methyl tertiary ether spot
prices fell on July 28 in line with gasoline in a weak spot MTBE market. The European MTBE price dropped
$1.50-2.50/mt between July 27 and $1,515-1,540/mt FOB ARA. This was in line
with a slightly lower front-month gasoline swap, but there were no changes in
market fundamentals. MTBE's premium was
stable at $471-500/mt over the EBOB FOBAR M1 despite no trading activity during
the Market on Close assessment. The spread
between front-month gasoline and front-month naphtha increased by $3.50-4.50/mt
over the previous day to $304.75-320.50/mt. This indicates slightly better
blending economics. Asia saw MTBE prices
rise by $22.50-28.50/mt, to $1,091-1,120/mt FOB Singapore, on July 28, due to
