Spot European MTBE price dropped at the
beginning of the week February 13, due to selling interest in an upstream
environment that was relatively stable. Spot outright MTBE price was $1,105.75/mt FOB
ARA February 13, a drop of $8.25/mt over Feb. 10, and below the outstanding
offer made during Market on Close. An earlier trade was made during the
MOC assessment for 1,000 mt at $1.112/mt. The MTBE
premium fell to $283.50/mt February 13, from $291.75/mt FOB ARA February 10,
while the front-month gasoline Swap remained stable. Last week,
it was suggested that European demand was strong and product supply had
slightly improved. However, expectations were higher about a tighter March
because fewer people are expected to travel to Europe in March...
