European MTBE spot price fell on Aug. 31,
due to selling interest in the declining upstream complex. The European MTBE spot
price fell $54.25-60.25/mt on Aug. 31 to $1,095.75-1,130.50/mt FBO ARA. This is
below the outstanding offer made during the Market on Close assessment process,
which was for 1,000 mt at $1.096-2.500/mt. The MTBE's premium fell $18-24/mt over the September EBOB
Swap to $268.25-300.50/mt on Aug. 31, in part due to a decline of the front-month
gasoline swap which was evaluated at $827.50-840.50/mt FOB ARA. This is a
decrease of $36.25-41.50/mt. Turkestan data
from August 31 showed that Turkey imported 16.442 mt MTBE in July. This was a
