The region's surplus of Octanes had been
putting the US MTBE markets out of the spotlight as buyers seemed to be slowing
down for the product. FOB
US Gulf Coast MTBE was at 354.08c/gal on August 11, little changed from the
previous session. The premiums remained
unchanged at 46.93c/gal for the second session, according to September RBOB. According to a market participant, the supply of MTBE was
not long but some supplies could be slated for movement out of the region
beyond the Americas. This would balance the overall fundamentals. Although there were some blendstocks in the region that
temporarily dampened the demand for MTBE at the moment, some sources believed
