MTBE suffered further losses on February 3, as weaker oil futures caused by
macroeconomic concerns over global growth. However, optimism about China's
recovery prompted Asian MTBE to extend its losses. Market sources stated
that mixed conditions in the gasoline and oil complex have led to a more
cautious outlook for the near future. According to market sources, Chinese
domestic demand for MTBE will increase in February because Chinese refineries
have maintained higher run rates and kept gasoline exports low for domestic
use. Market sources stated that the main concern is the uncertainty
surrounding global economic conditions. Fiscal policies have also been kept low
to prevent recession...
