In the week ended Nov. 11, the US vinyl
acetate monomer and acetic acid markets were quiet as participants waited for
direction due to an expected increase in supply through November. Sources claimed that spot
prices were stable and activity levels are low. The company stated that these products include vinyl acetate
monomer and acetic acid. "The market
has been slow with very few transactions. One
source stated that the market is still very slow and there is limited demand. This was partly due to the low price of US Gulf material in
comparison with China and Northwest Europe. FOB China acetic Acid at $385/mt Nov. 10, and offers heard
at $390/mt. European acetic acid was
valued at Eur1,200-1,230/mt. FD Northwest Europe ($1,221-1,261/mt).
