In the week ended Nov. 17, the US acetic acid
monomer and vinyl acetate monomer markets were quiet as participants waited for
direction due to an expected increase in supply through November. Sources claimed that activity was low and spot
prices remained stable. One source added that almost no liquidity existed in
the VAM market for this week. "The market has been slow with
very few transactions occurring. One source stated that the market is
still very slow and there is very little demand. This was
partly due to the low price of US Gulf material in comparison with China and
Northwest Europe. FOB China acetic Acid at $355/mt Nov. 17, and
offers heard at $360/mt. Pricing for European Acetic Acid was
Eur1,200-1,230/mt....
