Asian MMA & PMMA: Prices drop amid low demand / China plants experiencing technical shutdowns / Indian demand is still low

Asian MMA prices fell by 35/mt week-on-week to $1,340/mt, CFR China, on April 2, while Southeast Asia saw a $35/mt drop at $1470/mt, CFR Southeast Asia, on April 2. Source: China prices were falling at a rapid pace, but last week the closure of two major MMA manufacturers in China due to technical problems temporarily stopped the price decline. The source said that the two producers have a combined capacity of around 270,000 mt/year. MMA prices in China have fallen this week despite a slight recovery on April 2, but they continue to drop. China's market has been heard offering as little as $1.340-1.350/mt for end-of-April loading cargoes. Indian buyers are looking to purchase at prices as low $1.250-$1,290/mt.
