Due to a combination of falling oil prices
and extended weak demand, prices on the Asian benzene markets moved lower Nov.
28. In the FOB Korea basis market, there
were already strong offers for January-loading cargoes. While the
last offer was $726/mt, another offer of $730/mt was soon returned. The FOB
Korea benzene marker fell $41/mt on the day, to $81.10/b Nov. 28. The market
participants held the net long fundamentals view in the short term as there
were few outlets and the downstream markets remained bearish. Styrene
monomer was trading in the east China domestic markets at Yuan 7,770s-7,660s/mt
during the forward months. This was the same range as feedstock benzene in the
