Asian caprolactam prices fell by $45-50/mt
over the week to $1,965-2,000/mt CFR in Far East Asia. They were lower by $45-50/mt
to $1,975-2,000/mt CFR Southeast Asia on Aug. 4. The selling price in northeast Asia was lower at
$1,970-2,000/mt. However, buyers are still interested due to the slow demand
for downstream and final products. Sources indicated that the operation
rate for the downstream nylon sector is still low at 50 to60%. However, inventory
levels are considered high due to the lower operating rates. In view of
volatile upstream prices and global inflation, trade participants have a
bearish outlook for Q3 and Q4. To minimize price fluctuations,
producers are also maintaining a lower operating rate on the supply side. The
