Asian Methanol prices: Prices are stable or rising, tracking gains in China / East China methanol price rises Yuan 63/mt in a week / Market participants have mixed opinions on the supply of SE Asia / Demand-supply fundamentals in South Korea are balanced

On June 6, Asian methanol was stable or higher, tracking gains on the Chinese methanol markets. East China's domestic methanol prices recovered Yuan 63/mt, or $8.77/mt, week over week. They now stand at Yuan 2,308/mt. This is due to a drop in methanol inventories and a slight increase in crude oil price. According to Longzhong Information Services, methanol inventories in east and southern China increased by 11.13% from the previous week to reach 581.200 mt as of June 4. Market sources say that the stockpiles of methanol in east China were well below their usual level of 800,000 to 900,000 mt.
