The Asian methanol price closed the week 15-$16/mt up amid fears that an escalation in tensions between Iran & Israel could disrupt the methanol supply into Asia. The decision by US President Donald Trump on June 20, to decide in two weeks whether or not the US would join Israel's strikes against Iran, appears to have eased some tensions in Asia and the Middle East. Spot cargoes in East China traded at Yuan 2,735-2745/mt on June 20, a drop of Yuan 30/mt or $4.17/mt. Domestic methanol in East China was priced at Yuan 247/mt or $34/mt higher than the previous week.
