The Asian methanol market was largely stable despite the thin trading, as China and South Korea were away on Labor Day holidays. Sources said that the fundamentals of the South Korean market are mostly balanced, but a bit tight for June. The Middle East and US are on track to deliver a large volume of cargo to South Korea over the next few weeks, but there is not enough supply to meet the additional demand for spot goods. On May 2, an offer of $360/mt for a cargo expected to arrive in Southeast Asia and South Korea during the first half June was heard, but no deals were concluded.
