Asian methanol market closed the week steady to slightly soft due to the
decline in Asian currencies against the US. Spot discussions were also limited
as many market participants were away at a methanol conference. In China, the
near term outlook was bearish because olefin prices are at their lowest level
in two years. The near-term outlook in China was bearish as olefin prices
are at two-year lows. However, supply was steady. CFR India's
methanol dropped $3/mt on the day, and $11/mt on week. This is in line
with declining market sentiments as well as lowering domestic ex tank
