Asian Methanol Prices Stable to Soft Despite Thin Trading- Increase
in China's trading activity- October
spot cargoes in Taiwan- Indian
bearish sentimentOther Asian countries saw little trading
activity during the week ending Aug. 19, but China reversed the trend and
closed out the week with a strong buying interest in spot methanol cargoes. The volatility in domestic
methanol prices was exploited by buyers who bought the dip at $313-350/mt CFR
midweek. The parcel, weighing 7,000 mt and
of Southeast Asian origin, is expected to arrive in China in August's second
half. Another trade was a 5,000-mt cargo
with a 1.9% premium over the ICIS Specific Origin China methanol prices and a
10,000-mt parcel on August 15 with a 1.6% premium. The range for dollar-denominated spot cargoes was
