China's methanol imports have returned to 2019 levelsAsian
methanol prices ended the week higher due to expectations of strong economic
data coming from China. Trading will reopen on Jan. 28 following the Lunar New
Year holiday. Sources said that investors expect positive Purchasing
Managers' Index data Jan. 31, as China's economic activity will accelerate and
the demand for crude oil will increase now that pandemic restrictions have been
lifted. The ICE March Brent futures were $1.94/b more expensive than the
previous day at $87.96/b by 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT), Jan. 27. China's
appetite to methanol should be strong this year. China imported 12.19
