Prices of Asian methanol fell on July 11 due to a decline in the Chinese market for methanol, as well as weak fundamentals and a selling activity in South Korea's methanol markets. Taicang, China's local methanol prices fell Yuan 55/mt ($7.66/mt) week-over-week to Yuan 2,370/mt. The week was characterized by a lack of fixed-priced offers and bids. On July 10, a bid of $276/mt CFR China and an offer of $281/mt CFR China were seen. Market sources reported that more offers were made at a premium of 2% to the ICIS Specific Origin China Methanol price. However, few deals were closed. A few tenders were closed on July 8, showing some interest in Iranian methanol. Sources said that Kaveh Methanol Company shipped a 40,000 mt parcel from Iran to China...
