SE AsiaBullish crude oil prices and volatility
resulting from Russia's invasion in Ukraine pushed Asian methanol prices higher
for the week. CFR China methanol was down $7-8/mt on the day, but up $25-30/mt
weekly on the week at $390-405/mt February 4. Front-month ICE Brent futures contract was valued at $111.14-129.25/b
March 4, at 4.30pm Singapore Time (0830 GMT), down $118.50-135.50/b from March
3. Producers weighed the pros and cons of
placing methanol in areas that offered better netback, which resulted in tight
liquidity for non-sanctioned spot cargoes in China. After a March 1 deal for a 5,000-mt parcel priced at $380-400/mt,
