European methanol prices rose on May 12, on firming
buying and tightening markets. However, there was not much change in demand for
the FOB Rotterdam five-to-30-day methanol spot price at Eur355/mt-Eur375/mt on May
12. This is due to a firming market. Sources say that at least
6,000 mt were traded spot on the day. They were split equally between May,
June, and July deliveries at Eur355-360/mt each for May and June, respectively,
and Eur355-360/mt in July. The market saw
fewer offers in the afternoon. A source
stated that the market was expecting higher numbers tomorrow or next weekend. The demand for methanol was stable except for the purchase
of biodiesel applications because of the high vegetable oil...
