stable near-term fundamentals prompted a rise in trading activity in China's
methanol market. In the dollar-denominated Chinese spot exchange, at least
31,000 mt of methanol were traded in the last week. March cargoes were
traded at $325/mt CFR China while 15,000 mt volumes were traded at a premium of
1%-1.5% to the CFR China formula prices. According to market sources,
Chinese spot methanol prices will be supported by a lack of Iranian-origin
cargoes arriving into China in March. Market sources indicated that
Southeast Asia trading activity will slow down in March due to school holidays
in Indonesia and Malaysia, and the beginning of Ramadan's fasting
