Asian Methanol prices fall amid volatile US-China trade war / Escalating US-China Trade Tensions weigh on Market Sentiment / China-SE Asia arbitrage at $84-$89/mt

Prices of Asian methanol fell on April 11, as trade tensions between China and the US weighed down on Asia's prospects for economic growth. CFR China is down $3/mt to $262/mt, while CFR Southeast Asia remains stable at $349/mt. CFR Korea methanol is down $10/mt to $339/mt, and CFR Taiwan is $18/mt less at $326/mt. The White House announced April 10 that the US would levy a cumulative tariff of 145% on Chinese imports, while reducing tariffs for all other countries to 10%. Beijing had imposed similar tariffs of 84 % on all US imports in April 9 as a retaliation against Trump's reciprocal tariffs announced April 2.
