lackluster downstream demand, methylene glycol (or MEG) sentiment weakened. The day's
deals were lower due to weak domestic Chinese market offers. Some MEG facilities had reduced operating rates due to
eroded margins. However, supply was still higher than demand because of weak
downstream PET markets. Although winter is
a time when demand is low, some market sources said that this year's weaker
than usual demand was due to lower export opportunities following the pandemic. A trader from Northeast Asia stated that PET demand is very
weak right now and therefore it is not surprising MEG producers are considering
