Sources said that import prices for Asia mono ethylene glycol were lower on Sept. 20, due to weak demand. Chinese traders claimed
that the strong US dollar deterred imports. Although a Malaysian plant was reported to be offline,
official confirmation couldn't be found. A
Chinese trader stated that some traders were also considering moving material
to India. However, the premiums of $20-40/mt weren't enough to cover freight
costs. According to traders, freight costs
for a cargo of 5,000 mt were $70-75/mt to China from Southeast Asia. However,
the cost for similar cargo to India from China to India was around $100-120/mt. Traders also noted that Southeast Asia cargo is exempt from
