March/April trades on  MOC PTA, polyester margins holding up



Asian
paraxylene's value was unchanged at $1,098.33/mt-$1,098.50/mt CFR Taiwan/China
on February 8, 2008. This was due to oil markets reducing some of their gains.
ICE Brent crude futures fell $0.71/b to $91.85/b-$91.90/b. According to a source, Asian PX prices have remained stable
despite the lower oil and naphtha prices. This is due to March cargoes being
very tight on the market. There were four
trades on the market for Asian-origin March or April cargoes. Two for March
cargoes, and two for April. Another source
said that March cargoes demand continued because China-based purified
Terephthalic Acid (or PTA) buyers contracted lower volumes for their term
