Asian MTBE was up 12-16/mt
on the day at $1,140-1,160/mt FOB Singapore 21 April. Sources in Asia say that MTBE supply is starting to
increase. Demand is becoming more moderate, and supply becomes more robust. One source said that it would be difficult to ship cargoes
to Chinese ports because of congestion and high freight prices. It would also
be risky to ship cargo in these conditions without finding a buyer. A source in Malaysia stated that there was no demand for
cargoes from May or June. MTBE produced domestically would be sufficient to
meet gasoline blending requirements. A
