Asian styrene monomer rose $1/mt
to $930/mt CFR China, and $965/mt FOB Korea on Nov. 1, as the marker moved forward
to take the average December clay cans. Although market
fundamentals were stable day-to-day, domestic China prices rose in line with
other petrochemical products. This was due to the possibility of COVID-19
control being relaxed. On an import-parity
basis, the East China prompt marker rose from Yuan 160/mt to Yuan 8,185/mt. Market sentiment was bearish despite the day-on–day rise,
owing to slow Chinese demand. One source
said that even if new capacity is available, producers can still adjust their
operations to meet demand. The Southeast
Asia market is also affected by weakening Chinese demand. Run cuts have been
