Due to a shortage of offers and bids, Asian
propylene was stable on Sept. 6. According
to market sources, Asia's propylene supply would be less in September due to lower
steam cracker operations. Asia's
naphtha-fed steam crackers will likely keep operations lower in September
despite rising ethylene margins. This is because downstream polyethylene
remains unprofitable. Unprofitable
gasoline production margins may also mean that operations at Asia's fluid
catalytic crackers could be cut. Unv1's
Formosa reopened its 84,000 b/d fluid catalyst crackers at Mailiao on Sept. 5. The FCC was closed on Aug. 22 because of water leakage in
