According to Kpler shipping data, August
Naphtha exports from Asia to Northwest Europe and the Mediterranean were
519,000 mt. This is compared to July's 716,000 mt. According to sources, the
Asian naphtha market was weaker Aug. 30, due to low demand for olefins. This
could persist until there is an increase in seasonal demand for year-end
celebrations. The petrochemical sector
continues to struggle to meet domestic demand for naphtha in Europe due to
logistical disruptions and high natural gas prices. The tough economic conditions were making steam crackers
less active. Nubian, a Dutch industrial
chemicals producer, declared force majeure on May 1st on Europe's caustic soda
supply due to equipment failures and limited feedstock due to drought
