Asian butadiene was stable February 20th,
compared to Feb. 17, amid muted trade. It was not clear if spot buying
interest would continue in week of February 20th after a $20-40/mt day-on day
increase Feb. 17. The downstream production margins,
especially for synthetic Rubber, have been decreasing in line with rising
butadiene costs 17 at Yuan 9,600/mt or $1,213/mt if you consider import parity. The price
spread between CFR China and local China was minus $26.62-31.80/mt February 20,
which was the lowest level since Aug. 11, 2020, when it was minus $53.26-58.50/mt. The
arbitrage window was open between Europe and Asia. The location spread was
$440-460/mt. This is higher than the current freight rates of around $300-320/mt. 
Upstream saw the CFR Japan naphtha cost rise $9/mt...
