Asia LLDPE: Weak demand■ Heatwave slows down the manufacturing■ Prices lowest since November 2020Sources said that Asian linear low-density
polyethylene (LDPE) was less expensive in the week ending Aug. 24, in a
historically weak season. Due
to low demand and high crude oil costs, PE prices are at their lowest level
since November 2020. October ICE Brent
crude oil futures rose $3.86/b to $101.2/b after the Asian close (0830 GMT). Sources claim that the heatwave in China has slowed
manufacturing activity and power cuts have impacted both downstream and
upstream operating rates. Sources also
said that plastics manufacturing was slow due to the hot weather. This week, the South Asia LLDPE film market was stable. The market expects a tight supply of LLDPE due to two major
